Mars Daily is a premium fresh chicken supplier in Bengaluru with over 10 years of experience in delivering ready-to-cook chicken cuts to homes and businesses. They were using Zoho Inventory to manage their operations, but faced a critical challenge: they needed a production module to handle their unique manufacturing process.
The Problem
Mars Daily's business model involves processing raw chicken (production items) into various ready-to-cook cuts (finished goods). However, Zoho Inventory doesn't have a built-in production module to handle this workflow.
Key Challenges:
- 1.Two Types of Inventory Items:
- • Production Items: Raw chicken that cannot be sold directly to customers
- • Finished Goods: Processed cuts (drumsticks, breast, thighs, etc.) that are ready for sale
- 2.No Production Tracking: They couldn't track how much raw chicken went into producing finished cuts
- 3.Manual Stock Adjustments: After processing, they had to manually:
- • Decrease production item quantities
- • Increase finished goods quantities
- • Record waste and yield percentages
- 4.Paper-Based Production Orders: Production planning was done on paper, leading to errors and lost records
- 5.Limited Reporting: No visibility into production efficiency, costs, or waste metrics

The Solution
We built a custom Production Module in Zoho Creator that seamlessly integrates with their existing Zoho Inventory system. The module acts as a bridge between raw materials and finished goods, automating the entire production workflow.

Production managers can now create production orders directly in Zoho Creator, specifying:
- • Which production items (raw chicken) to use

2. Bill of Materials (BOM) Management
We created a BOM system that defines exactly how much raw chicken is needed to produce each finished cut. For example:
- • 1 kg whole chicken → 300g drumsticks + 400g breast + 300g thighs
- • Built-in waste calculation (bones, skin, etc.)
3. Automatic Inventory Sync
When a production order is marked as "Complete":
- • Production item stock automatically decreases in Zoho Inventory
- • Finished goods stock automatically increases in Zoho Inventory
- • Everything syncs in real-time via API integration
- • Inventory adjustments are documented with production order references
4. Production Dashboard & Reports
Real-time visibility into:
- • Daily production output
- • Yield percentages (actual vs expected)
- • Production costs per item
- • Pending vs completed orders
- • Historical production trends
5. Mobile Access
Production staff can view and update production orders from their phones on the production floor.
Technical Implementation:
- • Platform: Zoho Creator (custom application)
